As soon as i go to take off, it sputters.

If the lights are killing the engine , you have a substantial draw that should be blowing fuses.

Webjul 2, 2012 · when the engine is at idle if i turn on the lights or go to put it into 4 wheel drive the engine dies, in fact if i use anything electrical at idle the engine dies.

So does it not crank because the battery is being drained?

It will start every time but will die even with minute throttle advance.
